Why your passions can rule the world

Music is one of my many passions. Some music can make the hair on the back of my neck stand up or make me want to get down and funky with it. Listening to one of my favorite CD’s has a calming effect that I don’t think can be described – just felt. Some songs have a way of transporting me back to the place I was when I first heard them. (New Jack Swing easily takes me back to the Running Man marathons at my high school dance) Memories come flooding back. Good memories, mediocre ones. Most times the problem I was faced with before the song came on vanishes; at least for a little while.

Music can tell us stories about passion. When Otis Redding cries out about “These Arms of Mine“, you can feel his pain – his longing. You believed him when he cried out for that woman that he yearned to hold. I also know that I’m sure he got her and held her tight.

I don’t presume to know everything about everything. I do know that if you proceed through life the way Otis did when he DEMANDED – BEGGED for that change that’s gonna come then you can learn whatever you want. You can sell whatever it is you want to sell. You can write whatever you want to write. You can live the life that you’ve always wanted to live. What’s your passion?
