The Job Change Conundrum

Some groups of people in this industry change jobs like I change my underwear – every few months. Their own personal job satisfaction is apparently hard to achieve or maybe it’s because they climb to the pinnacle of that position quickly and realize they don’t like the view. Some people give consulting a try which seems to be a great fallback for those individuals suited to dealing with that kind of stress. I’m not but God bless ’em. Personally, if I’m ready to buy something, I need to know two basic things. First, what’s my excitement level for it and secondly, how much is it? That makes sense right? Overextending oneself is something one does right out of college when you think you have the world at your feet and assume that money grows on trees and so you run up your credit cards because you’re young and dumb. An Anonymous Donor acquires The Owl

(June 27, 2014) – In a recent move that caught the entire multifamily industry by surprise, an anonymous donor (The Donor) from a popular multifamily industry blog, acquired the Owl from the “BSitko foundation for the technologically challenged”. The owl supplants the original non-descript logo for the website with a fancier design, inspired by the acquisition. “It proves the point that we will really buy anything.” said an anonymous source. “We needed a spokescreature and this owl had just the look we were going for. Forced to setup his seemingly unimpressive telephone prototype in the top floor of Machinery Hall at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell was desperate. The Heartbleed Security Bug: What’s been the effect on Multifamily?

In the first week of April we received word that OpenSSL, the open source implementation of the SSL and TLS protocols, had been compromised. Over the past 2 years, this vicious flaw that raged throughout the internet, allowed hackers to steal encrypted data. We’re all busy creatures. We don’t always have time to keep a backup of our lives, stay on top of the latest blog posts, check ESPN, backup your attachments from Gmail, save articles for later, or keep an eye out for that used table and chairs set you’ve been looking for on Craigslist. Property Management system crisis: Why you probably want to switch and why you can’t.

Our Property Management system’s iterations look like DOS and Outlook 97’s love child. It’s ugly. It’s loaded with features that are cumbersome and counter intuitive. The accountants, of course, love it. “If you say GL I say Entry… GL, Entry, GL, Entry!” For those leasing agents and managers misfortunate enough to have to use it’s graphical user interface satanical design, it’s a brutally frustrating experience.
