Finally…a better definition of what being social in business really means

Posted by - Aug 9, 2011

You’ve probably read countless blog posts and articles about how social media has revolutionized the business landscape, how it’s the second coming of Christ, and how it’s the Star Wars Prequel that should’ve been. The one thing lacking from all those posts is a definition of what being social as a business really means. It’s

Will automation damage Google Plus?

One of the things I’ve been really enjoying about Google Plus is the lack of an API. For those that don’t know, an API is called an Application Programming Interface and it’s what allows all of those 3rd party programs (TweetDeck, Hootsuite, etc) to interact with the services you want to talk to. Google has done a smart thing this time around with their social network. With their previous attempts (Wave and Buzz) they released the API immediately. It was smart to hold it back for Google Plus. Why?

Why don’t we answer the phone?

New technology I can no longer live without.

New technology can be a lot like Justin Bieber. It isn’t the bad hair I’m referring to. Think about the first time you heard one of his songs. It really isn’t anything special; you probably dismissed it the first few times. The problem is you kept hearing about him. You saw him on TV, in

Making sure your product doesn’t suck

I saw Jason Falls at a conference last year (Thanks Duncan!) and he said something that probably seems obvious to a lot of you but is so often taken for granted: Before you spend any effort in Social Media make sure you have a product that doesn’t suck. Jason’s concept seems simple right? Don’t create

3 ways social search will change how you find apartments

Google deciding to implement their +1 search service really isn’t big news… yet. Its implementation is a little buggy and isn’t turned on by default. Like the Facebook Like button soon you’ll be able to add the +1 button to your website or blog. Cool. I’m all giggly inside at the prospect of another thing

Getting better engagement using Facebook Questions

No longer do you need to status blast your Friends on Facebook with “What should I do tonight?” or “Where’s the best pizza joint?” By utilizing the new Facebook Questions you’ll be able to ask whatever question you’d like, get organized results and get the poll out to everyone; not just your friends. First off

Open Letter to Twitter: Here’s why we use 3rd party apps.

Recently Twitter decided to really clamp down on some of its Third Party App developers. A lot of that clamping down is a direct result of API violations as well as inconsistencies in how Tweets are displayed. According to Twitter “consumers continue to be confused by the different ways that a fractured landscape of third-party
