RealPage acquires MyNewPlace: Marriage made in heaven?

This is from a guest post on Mike Brewer’s Group published yesterday. “Every noble acquisition is attended with its risks; he who fears to encounter the one must not expect to obtain the other” ~ Pietro Metastasio A curious thing happened on the way home from work yesterday. I was parked at a light and

Taking stock, a personal story, and something pretty dumb

“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.” ~Mark Twain Taking stock I’ve been blogging part-time for the past year. I started off doing a lot of it over at Multifamily Insiders and still do from time to time. The way I look at it, this blogging thing

Why technology isn’t just for Geeks anymore

This was from a guest post on Mark Juleen’s blog. Enjoy! Let me tell you a story about a boy. 4 foot 11, 120 pounds soaking wet, wrinkled Bugle Boy pants, his blond hair in a bowl cut; tousled. When he spoke his voice cracked and the things he used to say revolved around some

Google OS, the Cloud and testing the new Chromebook

Back in December, I saw a signup from Google asking for testers to try a new type of laptop. Of course I was tempted, I’m a geek. Google is always putting out geeky things so it’s a match made in heaven. Naturally then I signed up. Fast forward to May. Imagine my surprise when a

How to kill your old Marketing habits

I was laying in bed reading my son a book. It was bedtime at the Szczytko house. The house was quiet as I relived the tale of Anakin fighting Ventress, that my son has heard a ton of times, when there was a knock at the door. This caused my dog (whom I often refer

New technology I can no longer live without.

New technology can be a lot like Justin Bieber. It isn’t the bad hair I’m referring to. Think about the first time you heard one of his songs. It really isn’t anything special; you probably dismissed it the first few times. The problem is you kept hearing about him. You saw him on TV, in
